Is it a coincidence that “summer” and “sun” begin with the same letter? Maybe, but surely one implies the other. What better wallhanging or tabletopper for a summer gathering than this contemporary sun? It measures a bold 25 inches vertically and horizontally, features a sturdy fleece inner lining to provide stability, and is reversible to provide two different color schemes. The pieces are all created and connected in the hoop, then the face is embroidered on the center circle and sewn in place using regular sewing techniques. The wavy pieces feature stippling, the spiky pieces feature satin and straight-stitch detail, and all pieces are finished with a rich satin edge. Optional trim can be added for extra fun after the circle is sewn in. The project requires a 9” x 6” or larger hoop to complete. So break out the sun screen and the flip flops, but bring the sun inside too!
