"This collection was inspired by a trip to Paris. I traveled there on my honeymoon and one of my favorite parts of the visit was traveling to the Palace of Versailles for the day. As we took our tour we were amazed by room after room of artistry and opulence. Tapestries, paintings, ornate furniture and engravings greeted us in every room. Our tour guide told us that some of the rooms were worked on for years before they were complete. I was impressed by the gold ornamentation that was everywhere, picture frames, fences, tapestries and walls. We took over 500 pictures in the few hours that we were there. When we returned to the states I had a meeting with my artists and we discussed different photographs for future projects. One of the ideas was to create a tapestry design featuring flowers, trees and animals. Ginny proceeded to draw the scene and the beautiful border that surrounds it. When I digitized it I wanted to keep the design to a minimal amount of colors and we succeeded by only using two. I also only wanted to use thread and avoid using appliqués. We chose a dark navy silk dupioni for the background fabric and metallic gold for the thread. For the border we chose a gold dupioni to match the thread and we used navy thread to match the fabric. The stitch count is on the high side, that being said, it is a simple project since there are only two colors of thread in each block and one of them is stippling. You can simply start the design running and return when it is finished. The project is absolutely stunning when complete. When we moved in to our new home one of the first things we did was hang the Golden Tapestry in our dining room. You will love how easy it is to complete this project!"
