Turn it up! This retro boombox brings back the golden age of mixtapes, block parties and carrying your music on your shoulder. Every detail is there: the twin speakers with layered shading, the stereo tuning dial, the row of chunky buttons and a cassette tape sitting right in the center deck, complete with its little ivory loops.
The magic is in the thread. We built this design around a stack of metallics (aluminum, platinum, white gold, silver and dark grey) so the front panel and speakers catch the light just like real chrome. Stitch it in the original metallic palette for a true '80s look, or have some fun with it the way we did with our pink version. Swap in your favorite colors and it becomes a completely different patch.
It's designed as a patch with placement and tacking steps for twill, so you can stitch a stack of them and attach them to jackets, totes, backpacks and hats. Prefer to stitch it straight onto a project? Just skip the first two steps. The full patch-making tutorial and attachment instructions are waiting for you in the Education section of the Anita Goodesign website.
Available in three sizes: 5x5 – 4.3" x 3.5" (24,492 stitches) 6x8 – 6.1" x 4.7" (40,460 stitches) 12x12 – 10.6" x 8.0" (120,417 stitches)
That 12x12 version makes a statement piece on the back of a denim jacket.
