The Dala horse, with its humble origins as a handcrafted toy for woodcarvers' children, has evolved over time to become an iconic symbol of Sweden. This beloved horse has captured the hearts of many, and its vibrant presence adds a touch of charm to Swedish culture. While various styles of Dala horses can be found throughout the country, the striking red horse has become the most widely recognized.
At Anita Goodesign, we were inspired to put our own spin on the traditional Dala horse. By deviating from the traditional medium of wood and instead crafting it out of fabric, we aimed to bring a unique twist to this beloved symbol. We also experimented with the color palette in keeping with the spirit of innovation.
In homage to the originally painted statues, we incorporated the traditional colors of bright red, white, yellow, and green into our version of Dala Horses. These classic hues reflect this cherished figure's timeless charm and nostalgia. However, we also introduced a touch of modernity by adding our own colors to the mix, such as teal and navy. This infusion of contemporary shades allows you to personalize your creations and explore a more modern interpretation of the Dala Horse.
