Cameos originated as a form of art where objects such as gems and hard stones were engraved, creating a raised image with a contrasting background color. These pieces were then turned into jewelry or used to embellish clothing. We wanted to bring this style into embroidery by creating the classic look of cameos while giving it a Victorian-frame flare.
